 Great TV let down by on/off switch August 9, 2010

We purchased this TV in Dec 2009 after reading the favourable reviews and also because we had owned Toshiba products in the past. We were extremely happy with the TV and had no problems until this weekend when the On/Off switch stopped working. Amazon will provide a full refund and we will replace it with another Toshiba in the hope that it was a 'one-off' fault - fingers crossed!
I have given 3 stars because of the fault but if this had not occurred I would have been more generous!

The TV was purchased as a 21st birthday present for the younger daughter. As far as I'm aware she's more than happy with the TV itself. Setting up the TV seemed quite straight forward. Sound & colour are both very good and it's very light so easy to move. However, there was a fault with the on/off switch. When this was reported to the Tech Support Department they already knew about this problem on this model and a replacement set was offered. Not sure why we were not informed of the fault but that aside, Amazon were very prompt in sending a replacement unit. Arranging collection of the faulty TV was simplicity itself so well done Amazon & DPD.

excellent did what it said on the package, found the on/off button on the side, managed to turn the front light off.......and being of a certain age.... all without the aid of any techically aware children.

We bought this because we wanted a cheap TV that was simple to use, easy to wall mount and easy to operate. It also had to have Audio Description and be true HD because we wanted to look at our photos on it.
It is currently connected to a cheap Acer Revo computer and the external Freeview aerial and everything works, although we had to buy a special audio lead as the HDMI to computer audio link doesn't work for some reason to do with how HDMI encodes audio on a DVD player. Anyway, it cost all of three quid so I didn't care that much.
It is now bolted to the wall and works perfectly.
The only real technical issue is that it tunes between channels very slowly, but at that price you can't have everything...

The TV delivered incredibly quickly (thanks Amazon!), and we are just bowled over by the quality of the picture and how easy it was to set up. Within five minutes of opening the box, it was up and running.
The controls are simple to follow, the picture quality is superb, the sound is excellent, and the Freeview works as advertised (though we didn't need that facility, as we have BT Vision with its own Freeview channels).
For those interested, we bought a separate HDMI lead for the BT Vision connection. LINX HDMI Cable - Premium Gold Plated HDMI Lead for Full HD/HD Ready TVs - 1.2 metres
Also, get yourself a good anti-static cloth - like all flat screens, it's a dust magnet! Eagle LCD Cleaning Kit Containing 2 Micro Fiber Cloths and Anti-Static Spray
