5 out of 5 stars Fantastic TV   February 18, 2009

Philips seems very underrated in the UK for no particular reason. This TV has fantastic sound, the picture quality is great and ambi-light is the best invention of the last few years. The design of the TV is beautiful and I am very pleased I chose this TV over the Sony V4000 which is out of stock most of the time anyway.

2 out of 5 stars A real pain   June 13, 2008

I have had this set for 4 months and it regularly locks up once a month whereas you have to switch the set off for about a minute or so and then switch it on again before it works properly. I also have added other devices, recorders and players etc and find that working these devices you cannot alter the volume with the handset provided. With these devices i.e. DVD player etc. one has to use the TV control only which I find to be a real pain using two hand controls when I can usually use the one.
The programming feature is also a pain to use. It is so antiquated and difficult to use when compared to other Japanese sets I have had.
The spacial sound is no different to mono sound and as for the ambilight feature you either like it or hate it. Just a gimick in my opinion.
My advice ----- buy a good japanese set.
I used to work for a Philips subsiduary and never did get on with Philips TV or Hi Fi and why I bought it I shall never know Maybe because I got mine cheap and now I can see why.
After 6 months of use the set takes longer and longer to get to its original coulour and brightness now a bout half an hour.
Now 12 months after purchase this set was left off for four days while I was away for Christmas, when I returned home this set now takes over an hour to reach anywhere near what was its original colour with all the presets set to maximum.
In the new year I am going out to see if I can buy another model and this time it WILL NOT be PHILIPS and it won't come from Curry's
