5 out of 5 stars An excellent second TV!   July 4, 2010
Mike (South Riding)
We have had a small Polaroid TV as our second set for some time, hooked up to a Freesat box and 2.1 speakers. Its main disadvantage was the restricted range of brightness it offered, so I ordered this model to replace it.

This one has a matt black screen and so doesn't suffer from reflections. It also has a great range of picture settings. The reception of Freeview is much better that we got before---our signal is not great here---and easily tuned in 95 stations.

Even large TVs generally have poor internal speakers so I was not worried about this one. The solution is to hook up some speakers designed for use with a PC or MP3 player. For this you either take the output from the headphone jack or from the Scart jack, but I have hooked directly into the Freesat box. I then use a smart switch to turn all three bits of equipment on or off together.

In total, then, this is a great small TV and it can be inexpensively improved by adding speakers. If space is at a premium or you just want a small second TV then this must be hard to beat.

3 out of 5 stars The sound isn't great, even for a kitchen TV.   January 11, 2010

I got this TV to replace a big old portable we use in the kitchen, and it looks fantastic! It's easy to use straight out of the box and if it were looks, picture quality (make some changes from the default values for a better picture quality) and functionality then I'd give this a five, but the sound quality is POOR. My wife, who's not the biggest "tech" person immediately commented on the sound quality, it's "tinny", so I made to changes using the Equaliser, and it's made it better, but it's still poor. I've plugged in a set of external speakers to the headphone socket, and this is much better, but.....

I can live with the sound, but it the sound had been as good as the sounds from my old portable, then it would have been 5 stars.

I was a little worried about purchasing this TV after reading the previous reviews. But I thought the previous reviews were a bit harsh considering most people use it for a bedroom set and are not after a full on cinematic experience.
The TV arrived incredibly promptly and was in perfect condition. Once out of the box you really appriciate what a stylish set it is, really could not fault it, although the deep red edging might not be for everyone. The set was very easy to set up almost "idiot proof", you just follow the on screen menu the second you turn it on. The picture quality is amazing, very clear and sharp. The sound lacks a bit of base but is more than adequate for a bedroom or kitchen. All in all for just over £200 it is a great little screen.

the Full HD is wonderful. It's a very stylish TV. Sound is not fabulous. HOWEVER, most of the new up-to-date TV's sounds arent exactly brilliant. This product is good money for value!

A beautiful television but the sound was very poor. I couldnt believe that such an up to date product could sound so bad.
