4 out of 5 stars Sharp Aquos LED Backlit TV   August 29, 2010

Like a previous reviewer I was unsure about moving away from my old 21" 4:3 CRT. My chief concern was that a standard definition picture (currently all I get) would look worse on a 32" LCD screen. Well suffice to say I was wrong. The picture produced by the TV is superb with SD broadcasts and all my concerns were unfounded. Initial TV set-up is very easy regardless of whether you are tuning in analogue or digital services and the on-screen menus are excellent with numerous tweaks available to get the picture just the way you want it. I have played with a few of the many settings but I doubt I have even scratched the surface of what can be done, there is much experimentation is yet to take place. Add to this the numerous inputs and outlets of pretty much all types, the excellent ECO credentials and the full LED backlight technology it is hard to fault this TV.

But sadly fault it I can, hence only four stars. Another drawback with modern slim LCD screens is the tinny sound that results from the slim design. I was expecting this and whilst the sound produced by the TV is not as bad as I was expecting it to be, it is still somewhat lacking; fine for your everyday use but not for that special movie or concert. So I was relying on the ability to plumb the TV into a HiFi, and this is where the problem arises, for the sound delivered from the external Audio Outlets is a split second out of sync with the sound from the TVs own speakers. Sure you can turn the TV volume right down and listen to just the HiFi, but at times you can tell that the picture is ever so slightly out of sync with the sound and once you know its there it becomes hard to ignore that it is happening. It surprises me that Sharp, being such a well-established brand, can let something like this slip through. Perhaps I shall try contacting them, after I register my warranty of course.

So, if you have an AV system all lined up to plumb this into you should perhaps look elsewhere, but if not, well I can't fault it otherwise; a very attractive TV with a fantastic picture.

Delivery was prompt and arrived without any breakages. The TV itself is value for money and just what we needed. So far working perfectly.

5 out of 5 stars Sharp LED review 32"   January 22, 2010

I was very unsure about getting a LCD TV and read endless reviews. LED technology is the one of the most current and write-ups said this gave the best contrast ratio and colours. I've looked at the Samsung TV - stunningly slim but the LED technology is only used as a substitute for fluorescent tubes with some clever manipulation of LEDs at the edges to give the illusion of better blacks and brighter colours. The Sharp LED TV actually uses a second set of LEDs behind the screen which gives a much better picture as they cover all the screen not just the edges. The result is a fantastic colour and vibrant images. I'm well impressed to say the least. Add to this 100hz, 1080p of course and more imputs than you can shake a stick at plus a massive variation of picture - and sound - choices you cannot help but be impressed. Would recommend to anyone looking for current technology or wanting to upgrade.
